First Minutes

of the

Burton Farmers Gin Assn.

 

     On Dec. the second 1913 a meeting was called to order by C. Dallmeyer to establish and organize.  It was agreed on to call the organization The Burton Farmers Gin Assn.”

      After the meeting was called to order, a full Board of Directors was elected.

And the following Gentlemen were elected.  A. S. Whitener, President. C. Dallmeyer, Vice President, Gust Jaroszewski, Treasurer, F. Dallmeyer, Secretary.  G. A. Roeshe, F. Hopmann, Hy. Stolz, Jr.

     Finance Committee: C. Boenemann, R. Dement, L. Klanke.   Building Committee: F. Oevermann, L. Knipstein and E. Felder.

     A motion was made and adopted, Shares shall be issued at $50.00 per value.  Motion was made and accepted, City Residents shall be entitled to membership.  The next meeting was called for Monday, Dec. 15th.

Second Minutes

of the

Burton Farmers Gin Assn.  Held its second meeting on December 15th 1913.

     Same was called to order by C. Dallmeyer, Vice President.  Minutes were read and accepted.  Motion was made and duly seconded that two hundred blanks (200) Should  be printed in order to take up subscriptions.  Three additional members were appointed in order to assist Finance committee in taking up subscriptions.  The newly appointed members are: Chas. Oevermann, Hy. Stolz, Jr. and John Zettlers.  Wm. Dallmeyer was also authorized to assist in taking subscriptions.  Motion was made and accepted that fifteen members shall constitute a quorum.  Mr. L. Klanke has resigned from his Office as Commissioner.  He is succeeded by Mr. Gus Boehm.  It was agreed on that the annual meetings shall be second Thursday in January of each year.

Constitution of the Burton Farmers Gin Association.  The Burton Farmers Gin Assn. Established at Burton Washington County Tex. December 2 1913.

 

Section 1.             Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors shall consist of seven members, which shall be elected by the annual ballot.

 

Section 2.             Officers.

The Officers shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Which shall be elected by the Stockholders, and shall be the Board of Directors of this Company.

 

Section 3.             The capital Stock of this Association shall be Fifteen Thousand Dollars (10000) divided into Three Hundred Shares (200) to be paid at 50 Dollars (50) per share.

 

Section 4.             Annual meetings shall be held Second Thursday of January of each year for the purpose of electing Directors and receiving the reports of Officers and for the transaction of any other business that may properly come up for other consideration.

 

Section 5.             Each Stockholder shall have one vote and two third of all votes present shall decide.  No stockholder shall own more then six shares.

 

Section 6.             The election of the President shall be to preside at all meetings of Stockholders and Directors, sign all documents, appoint all committees unless otherwise specified.

 

Section 7.             In the absence of the President, the Vice President will perform the duties of the President.  This section amended on page 159.

 

Section 8.             It shall be the duty of the Secretary to keep a correct minute of all meetings of Stockholders and Directors, to keep an account with each Stockholder, to receipt all documents, and perform such duties as may be required.

 

Section 9.             The duties of the Treasurer shall be to collect installments, and other dues from Stockholders, and receipt for same.  He shall sign all checks, draft and notes, provided that notes shall also always be signed by the President and Secretary.  (Note:  This section has “X” marked through it)

 

Section 10.           Shares may be transferred to white people only, and no transfer will be recognized until it appears on the books of this Association, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

 

Section 11.           Fifteen Stockholders present at a meeting shall constitute a quorum.

 

Section 12.           All meetings shall be held at Burton Texas, unless otherwise specified.

 

Section 13.           Any changes in this constitution can be made only at the annual meetings of the stockholders.

 

Section 14.           Each stockholder must sign the constitution.

 

Section 15.           Each member or stockholder shall be entitled to one vote only.  This section of the constitution shall be unchangeable forever.

Sec. 10    It was moved that the constitution be as amended that no shares of the Association can be transferred in the future unless it is transferred to a cotton raiser.  The transfer can only be made with the approval of the directors.

In case a vacancy is caused in the board of directors by resignation or otherwise it shall become the duty or privlage of the board of directors to appoint another member to fill the unexpired term caused by such vacancy.

 

 

On January the Eight 1914 the Burton Farmers Gin Assn. Held its third meeting.  Same was called to order by A. S. Whitener President.

Minutes were read and adopted.  Vice President C. Dallmeyer has purchased a body of land or lots to be used for the erection of a Gin of said Co.  From Dr. C. H. Laas at Burton, the sum amounting to Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1500.00).

It was agreed on to build the Gin and same shall be five Gin stands and eighty saws, and twelve inch saws.  Several Gentlemen who where (SIC) representing different Gin Co. Have explained to the meeting the advantage and is advantages of their Gin outfits.  The next meeting was called for Thursday Jan. the 29th.

A special meeting was held by the Board of Directors on Jan. 17 1914.

In which the following questions were discussed.  Which is the most advantageously power machine in Gin construction.  The Oil machine should be given preference.  The investment of same will cost more at first.  But will be cheaper in the future.  We have further discussed, and decided for one story building.  The Well shall be drilled to a dept of 140 feet, and same will cost Six hundred and Fifteen ($615.00)

The building should be built of fire proof material, such as Brick or Concrete As the insurance will be much cheaper.

Minutes

 

     On Jan. the 29th 1914 The Burton Farmers Gin Assn. Held its fourth meeting.  Same was called to order by A. S. Whitener President.  Minutes were read, the Murray Gin Co. Gave us an estimate of an entire steel building, but according to the high costs of a building of this nature The Co. simply rejected the offer, and decided to construct the building their self.  House people shall be engaged to construct the building.  It was agreed on, the building shall be lumber frame.  The walls outside the building shall be galvanized Iron.  Light Iron shall be used inside the building.  In order to obtain a fire proof building.

     The Co. decided in favor of steam Engine and Boiler.  Motion was made and seconded to call the Gentlemen who were representing different Gin Co. to the meeting To submit their bids.  The estimates of the various Gin Co. were handed to the President the day after the meeting.

     The finance committee were instructed to sell shares to City Residents.  Motion was made and adopted, that the Board of Directors were given power, as authorized to transact business of any kind of this Co.

     The Board of Directors held a meeting on Feb. the 7 1914.  The Board carefully looked over the sealed bids.  Which were submitted from the various Gin Co.  The bids submitted from the various Gin Co. are as follows.

     Raff and Miller $5753.00  Murray Gin Co. $5140.00  Gullett Gin Co. $5387.88  Mungers Gin Co $4922.60.

     The Board decided to give the whole order to Mr. Beaumier at Brenham.  In case he deduct a five percent discount in payment to September first 1914.  The Board further resolved to buy first class leather belts and have pulleys.  The Board also decided in favor of belt distributor, instead of moving the cotton automatically.  President A. S. Whitener and Vice President C. Dallmeyer have been appointed to get in business communication with Mr. Beaumier at Brenham.  It was further adopted to have shade trees planted on Gin property.

     On Feb. The 21st 1914 The Burton Farmers Gin Association Held its fifth meeting, the meeting was called to order by A. S. Whitener President.  Minutes were read and adapted.  After this a lengthy discussion took place about one or tow story building.  The Association decided to erect a two story building.  Messr. A. S. Whitener and C. Dallmeyer have bought the Gin machinery from Mr. Beaumier at Brenham the purchase price of Gin machinery amounted to Five Thousand Two Hundred and Two ($5202.00).  The following Gentlemen consisting of Messr. Ben Bosse, J. R. Cunningham and Louis Knipstein were appointed in order to buy two hundred cords of wood to be used as fuel in the Farmers Gin

     The Board of Directors held a meeting on March 14th 1914.  In looking over the building plan, or blue prints carefully. We decided to hand the blue prints over to the local carpenters to give a a correct estimate of labor expenses in the construction of the building.  It was agreed that the carpenters should have the sealed bids ready by March 21st.

     On March the 21st The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmer’s Gin Assn. Held its seventh meeting.  We agreed at this meeting that the local carpenters should submit sealed bids for labor expenses, for the construction of Gin Building and Seed House.  We decided to give the contract to the most favorable bidder.  Sealed bids were submitted by Messrs Neumann and Weeren Brothers of Burton.  Mr. Neumann offered to erect the Buildings for Six Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($650.00).  Weeren Brother’s offered to erect the Building sfor Six Hundred and Ten Dollars ($610.00).  The contract was given to Weeren Brother’s to Build the Gin House and Seed House for amount mentioned above.                                                        F.      Another meeting was held March 31st 1914 by the Board of Directors.  We discussed at this meeting how to secure the Lumber in the most satisfactory way.  We decided to call upon several Lumber Co.’s to submit to us sealed lumber bids.  In order to buy the lumber as cheap as possible, sealed bids were submitted by four different lumber Companys.  A. G. Komeyer of Burton. Five Hundred and Sixty Six and Fifty One cents. ($566.51)  Farmers Merchants Lumber Co. of lBrenham ($636.45)  F. W. Wood Lumber Co. of Brenham ($542.00).  Grant Lumer Co. of Brenham ($552.80).  A. G. Komeyer agreed to diliver (SIC) the entire lumber to Gin property for $8.00.

     On April the 18th 1914 The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmer’s Gin Assn. Held a meeting, For the purpose to elect a manager of the Burton Farmers Gin for the season of 1914-1915.  Two applications were made.  Mr. J. R. Cunningham and Adolph Eberhardt.  Mr. Cunningham offered to Gin a bale for 15 cents and the Co. should employ four additional hands.  We could not make an agreement.  We called in Mr. Adolph Eberhardt to hear his proposition.  Mr. Eberhardt promised to employ all the hands, And take good care of the Gin.  He would Gin the bale for Seventy Five cents (75. Cents) all labor expenses included.  He also agreed to grind the corn during the busy Ginning season for the price mentioned.  Thereupon the Board of Directors duly elected Mr. Adolph Eberhardt as Manager for the Burton Farmer Gin for the Ginning season of 1914/15.

Directors Meeting

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmer’s Gin Association.  Held a meeting on May the 9th 1914.  At this meeting we learned that Adolph Eberhardt refused to accept the management of the Gin.  Hence we appointed Mr. C. Dallmeyer as manager, as to superintend the work at the Gin Property while same is under construction.  We allowed him $2.50 daily for his services.  Chas. Komeyer offered to move the Boiler and Engine to the Gin property for $75.00.  The offer was not accepted.

Stockholders Meeting

     On Feb the 21st 1914 The Burton Farmer Gin Ass’n held its fifth meeting.

The meeting was called to order by the President.  Minutes of the former meeting were read by the Secretary and were adopted.  The President mainly called for this meeting to make know to the Stockholders the advantages of the two story Building.  As the Pres. And Vic Pres. Had been in communication with Mr. Beaumier and had been advised under all conditions, to construct a two Story Building as it would give more satisfaction.   Instead of erecting a one Story Building which plan we had adopted on Jan. 17th meeting.  Thereupon the plan was adopted to construct a two story building.  Messes. A. S. Whitener and C. Dallmeyer have bought the entire Gin Outfit from Beaumier Iron Works, the purchase price of same amounted to Five Thousand two Hundred and Two Dollars (5202.00)  A motion was made and seconded that a committee be appointed to buy Two Hundred cords of Wood.  The committee consists of Messr Ben Bosse, J. R. Cunningham and Louis Knipstein, Jr.  On motion the meeting adjourned.

     The Burton Farmer’s Gin Ass’n held its first Annual Meeting.  Stockholders Meeting.

The Meeting was called to order by A. S. Whitener Pres.  A roll call of Stockholders followed, 35 members were absent.  The Minutes of the former Meetings were read and adopted.  The President A. S. Whitener gave a statement of the cost of the entire plant of the Gin and the Business done during 1914.

Which was as follows:  Net cost of Gin plant        11,853.10

Gin toll out and due                                                  615.55

Stock on hand and not yet paid for                              77.10

Cotton Seed on hand                                                  39.50

This shows a net profit for the year 1914                12,585.25

                 Of 29.9% on $10,000 capital

     The Manager C. Dallmeyer had on hand in cash $856.50 the money was used for pay for Gin lots.

     C. Dallmeyer personally advanced $96.23 to help pay for Gin lots.  The President declared that the Directors had decided to declare a 5% Dividend as soon as the Gin Toll out was collected.

     A motion of T J. Awald and duly seconded to re-elect the old Board of Officers carried unanimously.

     W. Dallmeyer addressed the Meeting and suggested to the Stockholders that the Power Plant of the Gin might be put to use during the balance of the year in furnishing the power for manufacturing Duck (cotton sacking).  On motion the meeting adjourned.

Directors Meeting

     The Directors Meeting followed the Stockholders meeting.  No change was made in the officers of the Board of Directors.  The Manager, C. Dallmeyer was authorized to buy 200 cords of wood for fuel and 100 Bu. Corn for the Mill.  Messrs. F. Hopmann and Hy Stolz, Jr. received the order to plant 20 shade trees on the Gin Lot and to receive $1.00 per tree provided they get them to growing.  On motion the Directors Meeting adjourned.

 

 

     On Feb the 27th/15 The Burton Farmers Gin Assn. Paid the 5% percent dividend to the Stockholders.  The Directors agreed to buy 2 Wagon Scales and to install a steam jet pump at the Gin.  On motion the meeting adjourned.

Special Directors Meeting

     The Board of Directors held a special meeting on July 31st, 1914.  The Directors appointed C. Dallmeyer as Manager for the Ginning Season of 1915/16 And to receive for his services 90 cents per Bale all expenses included.

     The Directors agreed to pay the mill hands during the busy ginning season $2.50 daily and for the remaining season $3.50.  On motion the meeting adjourned.

 Stockholders Meeting

     Second annual meeting of Farmer’s Gin Ass’n was held on Jan 13, 1916.  The meeting was opened by A S. Whitener President.  Wm Dallmeyer was elected Secretary pro Tem.  Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.  The Sec. Gave the Financial Statement of the Co.  It shows a net gain of 23%.

     The Directors declared that they would declare a Dividend of 8% cash.

     Motion was made and seconded to re-elected the old Directors.  Motion carried.

     Finance Committee Elected are:  Wm Wehring, Louis Knipstein and Christ Ludwig.

     Motion made and seconded to adjourn to Saturday a week to receive the 8% Dividend.

Directors Meeting

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmer’s Gin Ass’n. Held a meeting on Feb the 12th 1916 At the farmers Gin Plant To discuss various matters concerning the Gin.  The President A. S. Whitener called the meeting to order.  The Manager C. Dallmeyer announced to the Board of Directors they should try to elect a new manager or to increase the Salary 1% of income and all of expenses.  As the manager is compelled to add an additional hand to the Gin Force under the present system.  The salary does not cover expenses to live in town during the Ginning season.  This matter ha been postponed until the next meeting.  The Directors appointed Messrs. F. Hopmann and Hy Stolz Jr. to Buy cord wood, the wood shall be paid according to quality.  The price for same shall not exceed $2.75 per cord.  The Gentlemen shall receive $2.00 each for their service.  The Board discussed the question of buying corn and also a Scale for the Mill.  The Directors also discussed to increase the Life of the Gin hands in case of accident.

On motion the meeting adjourned.

 

 

Burton Texas Jan. 11: 1917

 

     The Stockholders meeting of the Burton F. G. Assn was called to order by the President A. S. Whitener on above date.

   The minutes of previous meeting were read and approved as read.

   The Manager reported cash on hand $1728.40 which amount he delivered to the Treasurer of the Ass’n.

   The Finance Committee reported that the books of the Treasurer having been audited and found to be correct.

     The President announced that the Directors had agreed to pay a dividend of 15% which was then paid out by the Treasurer.

     It was moved and seconded that the Constitution be so amended that no shares of he Ass’n. can be transferred in the future unless it is transferred to a cotton Raiser.  The transfer can only be made with the approval of the Directors.  The motion carried unanimously and amendment was adopted.

     It was moved and seconded to have 100 copies of the constition (SIC) printed and that one copy be given to each member of the Ass’n.

     The old Board of Directors were re-elected except Fritz Knipstein was elected in place of Hy Stolz Jr. and O. J. Neutzler who was elected in place of Fritz Dallmeyer.

Directors Meeting

 

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Association held a meeting at Burton on Jan. 11, 1917 to discuss various matters concerning the Gin.

     The Board of Directors appointed Hy Dieckmeyer as Manager for the Ginning season 1917/18 and receive for his services One Dollar per Bale the way conditions are now.  If Seedweigher is put in Gin or the Sampling at the Gin abolished.  Hy Dieckmeyer promised to run Gin for a little less.  Extra work days 2.50 a day.

     This Directors agreed to pay the mill hands during the busy Ginning season $2.50 daily and for the remaining season $3.50.  Motion made and seconded to adjourn.

Directors Meeting

 

     An informal Meeting was held by some of the Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Asn, on Jan. 20, 1917.

     Robert Fuchs was appointed as Treasurer in Mr. G. Jaroszenwsky place.  Mr. A. S. Whitener was authorized to buy corn for the mill.

Meeting adjourned.

 

Directors Meeting

 

   The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Association held a meeting at Burton, Texas on Jan. 27, 1917 to discuss various maters concerning the Gin.  Mr. A. S. Whitener reported that he had bought 400 Bu of corn for the mill at 120 per Bu.  We do the hauling.  Mr. F. Hopmann accepted to haul the said 400 Bushels of corn to the Gin at the 1 ¼ cts per Bushel.  The directors agreed that all cotton on hand shall stay in the hands of Mr. C. Dallmeyer until sold.

                                  Motion made a seconded to adjourn.

Directors Meeting

 

   The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Association held a meeting at Burton on April 7,1917.  Messrs. F. Hopmann and Fritz Knipstein were appointed to visit some Gin where Seedweigher is in operation and report what they find to the next Directors meeting.  Mr. F. Hopmann and Fritz Knipstein’s necessary expenses shall be paid by the Gin Co.

     Motion made and seconded that all meal sacks on hand shall bring 5 cts apiece.  Motion made and seconded that wood on hand to be measured.  The Manager Hy Dieckmeyer was authorized to sell all cotton seed on hand.

Directors Meeting

 

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Assn held a meeting at Burton on April 28, 1917.

     Mr. C. Dallmeyer reported 3 Bales of Cotton sold for the sum of $275.35.  Mr. Dallmeyer received $180.00 leaving the Co. a net of $95.35.  Motion made and seconded to install an automatic Seedweigher from Haidwickeretter Co. Dallas, Tex.  Motion carried unanimously.

     Motion made and seconded to send a delegate to the Cotton Ginners Association of Texas to Dallas.  Hy Dieckmeyer was elected as our delegate.

     As their being no further business to transact meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

 

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmer Gin Ass. Held a meeting at Burton on July 20, 1917.

     It was moved and seconded to charge for Bagging and Ties $1.50 per Bale and should Bagging and Ties be sold to other Gins it shall bring $1.50 per Bale Cash.  The motion carried.

     Motion made and seconded that the Gin Toll shall bring 60 cts per hundred for the Ginning season 1917.  Motion carried.

     Mr A. S. Whitener and Mr. F. Hopmann were authorized to assist the Manager Hy Dieckmeyer selling Cotton seed.

     As there being no further business to transact meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

 

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin ass. Held a meeting at Burton on Nov. 22, 1917.

     The Manager Hy Hieckmeyer made the following report.  All expenses paid and $2412.18 on hand. But of this amount $424.50 is standing out for Gin Toll.  The Manager also reported that he had 107.30 out of Meal.

     The Directors appointed Messrs A. S. Whitener F. Hopmann and Hy Dieckmeier to buy corn for the mill.  As there was no further business to transact meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

 

     The Board of Directors of the Burton Farmers Gin Assn held a meeting at Burton on Jan. 4, 1918.

 

     The Directors agreed to buy 10,000 lbs of shell corn for the mill from Steiner & Dallmeyer at 2 dollars a bu.  All corn bought at 2 dollars a Bushel shall bring $2.25 cash for Corn meal.  Credit $2.40 a Bushel.  The Directors agreed to pay the Stockholders a dividend of 10%.

     Motion was made and seconded to sell the Wagon Scale next to the Seed house, to the highest Bidder.  Said Scale was sold to Mr. C. Dallmeyer for $65.00 cash.  Mr. Dallmeyer making the highest bid.

     Motion was made and seconded to adjourn.

 

 

Burton Texas Jan. 10, 1918

 

     The stockholders meeting of the Burton Farmers Gin Association was called to order by president A. S. Whitener.

     Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

     Roll called forty-two members present to begin with.

     The manager Henry Dieckmeier, reported $2189.12 cash on hand.  Finance committee reported the book in good order.

     The president announced that the directors had agreed to pay a ten percent (10%) divident (SIC).

     Mr. A. S. Whitener, elected president by acclamation.

     Mr. Ben Bosse elected vice President in place of Mr. C. Dallmeyer.

     Robert Fuchs was elected as secretary by acclamation in place of O. J. Neutzler.

     Louis Knipstein was elected treasurer in place of Mr. Gus. Jaroszewski.

     O. J. Neutzler, Fritz Oevermann, and Ed Felder were elected the other three directors necessary.

     Messrs Gus. Boeker, C. Dallmeyer, and Wm Wehring were elected the finance committee.

     As there was no further business the meeting adjourned.

Directors Meeting

 

Jan. 10, 1918       At a directors meeting held Jan. 10, 1918 Hy Dieckmeier was elected manager for the next twelve months or until the next general stockholders meeting in Jan. 1919.

     The manager to get one dollar ($1.00) per bale for all cotton ginned: he to furnish all necessary help.  During ginning season he gets ($2.50) two dollars & 50 cts extra for running corn mill per day and to get four dollars ($4.00) per day for running mill out of ginning season or say from December 1st to August 1st and all extra repair work (etc_ $2.50 per day.

     No further business the meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

 

March 30     A directors meeting was called by Mr. Whitener, in order to see where and how we could buy mill corn.  Upon motion Henry Dieckmeier, was authorized to buy mill corn at $2.00 per bushel.

     Henry Dieckmeier was also instructed to move the wagon platform scale out from under the blower.

     No further business the meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

June 15     The directors agreed to sell all the sour or unfit mill corn for $1.00 per bu.

     It was previously agreed to buy $200.00 worth of the 3rd liberty loan Bond which were then bought by H. Dieckmeier.

     Henry Dieckmeier was instructed to borrow money to pay for the machinery bought.

     No further business the meeting adjourned.

 

 

Directors Meeting

July 31st     Mr. Whitener called the meeting to order for the purpose of buying bagging and ties and to locate some money.

     It was agreed to buy 400 patterns baggin (SIC) and ties at $1.50 per pattern from Chas. Knipstein.  Henry Dieckmeier was instructed to borrow $600.00 to pay for bagging and ties bought.

     And also agreed to contribute $5.00 to the County council of defense.

     No further business the meeting adjourned.

Oct. 1     Mr. Whitener, called the meeting to order for the purpose of looking over the managers books to see how the Association stood.

     The books were looked over and found that the outcome would be good providet (SIC) all collections can be made.  Mr. Ed Felder was appointed to help Henry Dieckmeier buy more wood.  No further business the meeting adjourned.

Stockholders Meeting

Feb 8, 1919

     The stockholders meeting of the Burton Farmers Gin Association was called to order by President A. S. Whitener.

     Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved as read.

     The finance committee report being unsatisfactory therefor (SIC) were reappointed       

to look over the managers books and make a satisfactory report.

     A motion made and carried to pay the finance committee $2.50 each for a days work to go through the books of the gin company.

     Also a motion made and carried to pay the directors present at all meetings or otherwise called upon a fee of $2.50 per day, excepting the stockholders annual meeting.

     The huller gin proposition was discussed and voted upon not to buy huller gin stands.

     Mr. Whitener re-elected president by acclamation.

     Mr. Ben Bosse re-elected Vice president by acclamation.

     R. A Fuchs re-elected secretary.

     Mr. Louis Knipstein was also re-elected treasurer by acclamation.

     Messrs. Fritz Hopman, Fritz Oevermann and C. Dallmeyer were elected the other three directors necessary.

     Messrs. Ed Felder, Rub Dement and J. R. Cunningham were elected the new finance committee.

     The meeting was well attended and great interest was shown as to improving the gin and to make it a better running plant to take better care of the next cotton crop.  No further business the meeting adjourned.

     At a directors meeting with the old finance committee of 1918 we make the following statement as to the account (etc) of the Burton Farmers Gin Association.  We find on hand the following

     The above statement was recommendet (sic) by the finance committee.

 

     The board of directors then elected Mr. Wm Wehring as manager for 1919.

     A motion made and carried to pay the manager $1.25 a bale for all cotton ginned during gin season from August to Dec 1st.

     During gin season $2.50 for running mill per day and $4.00 per day out of gin season.  The manager to furnish all necessary help for running gin and mill.

     For repair work the manager is allowed $2.50 per day.  No further business the meeting adjourned.

 

May 3, 1919                         Directors Meeting

     Meeting called to order by president Whitener.  Minutes were read and approved as read.

     After discussing the standing of the Association it was found that the sum of the bank reports to the treasurer is different then our.  Was then moved that a committee be appointed to investigate Mr. C. Dallmeyer and Louis Knipstein were appointed.

A motion made and carried to send gin saws and ribs to H. C. Miller to be put in shape.  Mr. Hopmann to carry same to Brenham.

     The wood proposition was discussed and it was agreed that we buy cole (sic) and a house be erected large enough for two cars of coal.

     Mr. Hopmann is to assist Mr. Wehring in erecting the house.  No further business the meeting adjourned.

 

 

May 13                                     Directors Meeting

 

     Meeting called to order by president Whitener.  Report of the investigating committee was that the Books of former manager Henry Dieckmeier were absolutely impossible to make a correct report off.  Therefor (sic) it was moved that the secretary make a report of Henry Dieckmeier Gin account after Mr. Wehring taken charge of the Gin on Feb. 15, 1919.

Aug. 16, 1919                       Directors Meeting

 

                                                   Meeting called to order by Mr. Whitener.

 

     The price of cotton ginning was discussed upon which it was moved and carried to charge one dollar ($1.00) per hundred for lint cotton ginned and one dollar seventy-five cents ($1.75) for bagging and ties.

     Mr. Whitener agreed to furnish ready cash money for buying seed three or four thousand ($3000 or 4000) if needet (sic) at Six percent (6%) for the time the money is in the gin’s hand’s.
